Abstract: In the article there are discussed the organization of OSH activities in Republic of Bulgaria and the main issues it is facing. There are outlined the most significant contemporary challenges that lie ahead of the OSH system in Bulgaria: the ageing of the labour force, the increasing relative share of micro- and small enterprises, the high percentage of self-employed people and unpaid family workers, the use of obsolete machinery and equipment, the growing number of psychosocial hazards. Possible approaches to their solution are put forward.
