Automation of business processes and its impact on the financial performance of retail enterprises: experience of Germany and Ukraine

Abstract

The article examines the impact of automation and digitalization on the financial performance of retail enterprises in Germany and Ukraine. Particular attention is paid to the implementation of advanced technologies—such as artificial intelligence, robotics, and e-commerce tools—which significantly influence revenue growth, profitability, and operational efficiency. A comparative analysis of German and Ukrainian retail companies focused on six key dimensions: technological infrastructure, government policy, consumer behavior, access to capital, workforce readiness, and digital skills. The constructed multivariable regression model revealed a strong positive correlation between the level of technological and institutional development and retail profitability indicators. The conclusions highlight the importance of coordinated policies, investment in innovation, and human capital development to stimulate digital transformation and ensure the financial resilience of the retail sector. В статті розглянуті питання впливу автоматизації та цифровізації на фінансові показники підприємств роздрібної торгівлі Німеччини та України. Особлива увага приділена впровадженню передових технологій, таких як штучний інтелект, робототехніка та інструменти електронної комерції, які в певній мірі впливають на зростання доходів, прибутковості та операційної ефективності. Порівнянний аналіз підприємств роздрібної торгівлі Німеччини та України був зосереджений на шести основних вимірах: технологічна інфраструктура, державна політика, поведінка споживачів, доступ до капіталу, готовність робочої сили та цифрові навички. Побудована багатовимірна регресійна модель дозволила виявити сильний позитивний зв'язок між рівнем технологічного та інституційного розвитку та показниками прибутковості роздрібної торгівлі. Зроблені висновки дозволили підкреслити важливість скоординованої політики, інвестицій в інновації та розвиток людського капіталу для стимулювання цифрової трансформації та фінансової стійкості сектору роздрібної торгівлі.
